The Google® Factor

There is absolute no doubt, Google® is the most important Search Engine in the whole wide web. If a webmaster tries to optimize his website for a Search Engine, he will think about Google® in 95% of all cases. The algorithm of website rankings in Googles search results is changing from time to time and is one of the most protected secret regarding the online world. If you search the web for some help to optimize a website for Google, you will find an uncountable sum of blogs, sites and communities who are just discussing that theme.

Regarding to that fact, we just want to give you a short advice:

If you like to ask someone how to make you website "Googlefriendly" -just ask Google themself! Under the following link: Google Webmaster Tools you will find many informations, tips and good tools to optimize your site. If you register for a Google account, you will find several kinds of statistics and you can let your website check by Google.

You will see, that it is very important for the search engine robots, to have a sitemap in the main directory of your website. If you have no idea how to build such a sitemap, you can download a tool from Google, or use an online generator like XMLecho wich is very easy to handle and works quite well. For my own sites i am using the online generator and i made very good experiences with it. Another advance for your website regarding the search engine robots is to have a simple robot.txt file in your main directory. That file defines wich directories or files should be spidered and wich not. If you would open a robot.txt file with a text editor, the most files would look like that:

User-Agent: *
Disallow:

These two lines are telling the robot of every search engine that he is allowed to spider all directories and files he will find on your database.

At least we have to say that two things really sems to have an influence for the Google ranking. It is still important to have more than just a few backlinks to your site, what not means that you have to buy them or do anything just for getting backlinks. The second thing is good and fresh content. You always have to date up your site, maybe with some kind of a blog or a guestbook. If there is nothing changing on your website or you have just a few pictures online, Google will give you a bad rating and your site will remain deep in the search results for every keyword you choose. But don't try just to copy content from other website, because Google compares contents and when there is the same content on two or more sites, it is possible that Google kicks one of them out of their database.
